Job Purpose

Payroll and Benefits oversees the day-to-day needs of the payroll and benefits processes for all employees at Solutions Management Group. This role administers company’s benefit programs, including health, ancillary and retirement plans. Acts as a liaison between employees and insurance providers, processes payroll, and maintains timekeeping functions.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Provides excellent customer service to all Solutions Management customers and staff

  • Acts as a main point of contact for all employees regarding payroll and benefits

  • Answers and provides advice on employee’s timekeeping, payroll and benefits questions

  • Processes payroll timely and accurately on a bi-weekly basis to include submission of payroll, overtime, garnishments, adjustments, changes, and benefits

  • Oversees timekeeping functions sustaining high-level knowledge of payroll law

  • Resolves payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information, providing solutions to payroll errors, and ensuring corrections are processed

  • Updates and maintains employee information in the payroll system

  • Files and maintains all payroll information in accordance with federal, state, and SMG guidelines and regulations

  • Tracks all the time off accruals

  • Reconciles quarterly reports in the payroll system for accurate tax filing in accordance with federal and state guidelines

  • Reconciles annual W-2 forms in the payroll system

  • Trains new managers on timekeeping and payroll functions; provides ongoing training for all employees and managers.

  • Administers expense reimbursement process

  • Pulls payroll and benefits reports as needed

  • Coordinates with Human Resources team to ensure accurate employee data for new hires, terminations, and changes in pay and status are reflected in the payroll system

  • Manages and administers all employee eligible benefit plans including new enrollment and annual open enrollments, changes, and terminations

  • Leads annual benefit open enrollment process, and assists employees with benefits enrollment

  • Ensures 100% compliance with benefit plans with all federal and state federal laws related to benefits

  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper deductions

  • Facilitates all Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and reporting functions

  • Monitors and completes COBRA continuation requirements to employees

  • Reconciles all benefits statements

  • Communicates ongoing with insurance brokers

  • Participates in monthly benefits committee meetings

  • Understands payroll and benefits policies and procedures in the employee handbook

Work Schedule

The employee works part-time (30-32 hours/week) Monday-Friday. Hours are between 8:00am-5:00pm.

This position is non-exempt.

Qualifications

  • Employee must be able to execute strong customer service skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

  • Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in accounting, Human Resources, or related field coupled with a minimum of three-five years’ experience in maintaining compensation records and overseeing payroll programs required
  • Experience with an online payroll system is preferred
  • Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices required
  • Exposure to benefits plans/programs
